Traveling along a highway, out in the middle of “˜nowhere”™, you round a curve and there”¦there is a field filled with flowers”¦unexpected beauty. Whether you see one color or a rainbow of colors ““ flowers of beauty that will give a lasting impression of God”™s handiwork”¦for few eyes to see, but there nonetheless.

Jesus gave an illustration of worry in contrast to the beauty of flowers in a field:

(NASB) Matthew 6:28-29 “And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,

29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.”

Jesus had talked about worry”¦He warns us, even today, it is impossible to serve two masters”¦for one will be slighted and the other given priority. It is impossible to add even an hour to our lives by worry.

Jesus knows our worries”¦worries about a lot of things. He encourages us to choose to sit at His feet and learn of Him, to be given quieted thoughts and to trust Him for our needs. The work He gives us to do will be a way to provide for our needs as we trust Him.

(NASB) Matthew 6:30 “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith!”

Since God is the Creator and has made the flowers in the fields beautiful ““ how much more will He clothe you with beauty? Our faith in God is indeed little when we worry.

(NIV) Romans 1:16-17 “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes; first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “˜The righteous will live by faith.”™”

Do not worry”¦”˜The righteous will live by faith”™ in God.
