Seeking Jesus”¦
People are seeking to be “˜spiritual”™ today. Book stores have many “˜spiritual”™ books”¦books on Satanism, new age; various religions are in abundance among those book shelves.
When people are true seekers ““ they have a yearning, a desire to be fulfilled ““ spiritually. There is only one Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ.
Seek Jesus ““ He is the One Who baptizes and fills His followers with His Spirit. (See John 1:33)
How did John the Baptist encourage two of his disciples to be seekers of Jesus?
(NASB) John 1:35-36 “Again the next day John was standing with two of his disciples,
36 and he looked at Jesus as He walked, and said, “˜Behold, the Lamb of God!”™
John was doing his job ““ he was revealing Jesus to Israel, day after day. One day He pointed Jesus out to two of his disciples.
(NASB) John 1:37 “The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.”
These two men responded to John”™s revelation ““ they followed Jesus.
Have you responded to the revelation God has given you?
(NASB) John 1:38 “And Jesus turned and saw them following, and said to them, “˜What do you seek?”™ They said to Him, “˜Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?”™”
Have you tried to follow Jesus but did not know what you were seeking? When Jesus asked, “˜What do you seek?”™ ““ these two men knew what they were seeking. They were seeking to know Jesus personally. They desired to spend time with Him and get to know Him.
You and I can also do that ““ by reading/studying His word and talking with Him through prayer. What do you seek?
(NASB) John 1:39 “He said to them, “˜Come, and you will see.”™ So they came and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him that day, for it was about the tenth hour.”
Jesus”™ reply was gracious and inclusive. He invited those two men to come with Him that day.
Today, He invites you to come and spend time with Him.
