Look! The Lamb of God!
On the Friday before Easter, all Christendom celebrated “˜Good Friday”™. It is considered “˜Good”™ because the followers of Christ had their sins atoned for by the Son of God when He was scourged with whips tipped with jagged bits of bone and stone. It was the cross which became the sacrificial altar for the Lamb of God ““ it was there He took my sins and yours on Himself”¦this is why it is “˜Good Friday”™. Have you received Him as your Savior? This is why all must go to Jesus to be saved”¦there is no other way God has provided to go to heaven!
No other religion, no other “˜god”™ can save anyone. God”™s love is so high, deep, wide and long that He gave His only begotten Son for your sins and mine. He loved you that much!!!
Look! The Lamb of God Who takes away (your name) sins.
What a Savior, what a God, what love, what grace, what mercy!
One day, John the Baptist had been approached by a delegation from Jerusalem and he had answered their questions.
(NASB) John 1:29 “The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “˜Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”™”
What could be some reasons John the Baptist identified Jesus as the Lamb of God?
In Genesis 3:21, God clothed Adam and Eve after they had sinned against Him. Some commentators believe that this was a lamb sacrifice as a picture of Christ”™s perfect sacrifice and He would provide the covering that people need before God.
In Exodus 12, God instituted the Passover Feast using a lamb as a sacrifice.
In the book of Leviticus, God instituted offerings that were pleasing to Him, and many of them involved the use of lambs as a sacrifice.
When the priests sacrificed a lamb, it pictured Christ Jesus atoning for the sins of the people. When Jesus died on the cross, the need for sacrificing animals was no longer needed. He had atoned for the sins of all who agree with God that they need to be forgiven through the sacrifice of Jesus.
(NASB) 1 John 1:6-7 “If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth;
7 but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
