Facing the Enemy”¦
As a follower of Christ, when we face an enemy there are three things we can know: 1- Our enemy is powerful
2- Our enemy has been defeated by Jesus Christ on the cross and through His resurrection
3- God is greater than our enemy
Jesus faced His enemy, the devil, and the temptations. He did not argue, He stated God”™s word. That was His defense”¦God”™s word, “˜It is written”¦”™
Have you noticed that Jesus never said, “˜I”™m sorry, but”¦?”™ He gave no excuse for saying what He said, He never apologized, and neither should we for using God”™s word.
Jesus took His stand on God”™s written word ““ period. No apology, no “˜waffling”™.
Jesus did not argue, God”™s word was the final word. There was no room for argument. There is no higher authority than God”™s word.
What did the devil do after the temptations and Jesus had said “˜It is written”¦”™ each time? Satan left Jesus for a time. Satan used other times to tempt Jesus throughout His life. Even when Jesus was on the cross, in His extreme suffering and agony, He was tempted to “˜come down from the cross”™ by His tormentors in the crowd watching Him die.
Satan is subtle, clever and doesn”™t easily give up. Jesus never wavered”¦He set His face to go to Jerusalem, to go to the cross, to thwart Satan”™s power, to thwart sin”™s power, to thwart death ““ for you!
We can know that Jesus faced His enemy and ours and Easter is the proof of victory!
Facing the enemy as Christ did
