When you go to school you expect to be tested about what you have been taught. Tests are an important indicator of what you have learned. So, when you take a test ““ it is just you, the test and a pencil. No other person can take that test for you; if they do you have cheated and have been cheated.

Jesus took a test and He did it so we can approach Him with full confidence that He understands. He understands the temptation or test; He understands the loneliness and the aloneness of tests.

(NASB) Matthew 4:1 “THEN JESUS was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.”

What had just occurred? Jesus had been baptized by John the Baptist, the Holy Spirit was seen by John to light on Jesus (like a dove) and the Father had affirmed Him from heaven.

Then Jesus was purposely led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by God”™s enemy, the devil.

Like Jesus, each person is tempted and tested throughout life. Jesus went alone”¦He did not have any other human with Him.

Tests and temptations which come our way have to be met personally and alone. No other person can take our tests for us. We have to take the tests ourselves. However, we can ask Jesus for help to turn from temptation and pass the test.

Why did Jesus go into the wilderness, knowing He would be tempted by the Devil?

He was led by the Spirit of God for one reason.

For another reason, He did it for you and me:

(NASB) Hebrews 12:14-16 “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.

15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.

16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we many receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

When you are tempted and tested, turn to Jesus for help, He will give you mercy.

His mercy and His grace is for you to be helped in your time of need.
