As we read the Scriptures”¦are we just reading words or do we look for God”™s messages to us? Reading God”™s word in context is important. Reading the verses before and after the passage will keep it in context.

Search the Scriptures for they hold a wealth of encouragement, promises and show God”™s love and faithfulness over and over.

(NASB) Matthew 2:11 “After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”

Note: the wise men entered a house, not a stable.

Note: the wise men worshiped only the Child.

Note: the wise men opened their treasures and presented their gifts to Him.

The gifts the wise men gave were tangible. What could they represent?

Note: the wise men gave gifts of: gold (which denotes a king);

frankincense (which denotes a priest);

myrrh (which denotes a suffering savior)

As you enter to worship ““ Who are you to worship?

As you enter to give your gifts ““ to Who are you to present them?

As you enter to give your gifts ““ what are you going to give?

Your time? Your talents? Your treasure? Your witness?

Time: how are you spending your time?

Talents: are you using your God-given talents for Him?

Treasure: what part of your money do you give for God”™s glory?

Witness: how are you witnessing to God”™s goodness in your life?
