Seeking”¦to Worship Him
(NASB) Matthew 2:1 “NOW AFTER Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,””¦
Who? Jesus was born
Where? Bethlehem
When? In the days of Herod the Great”¦the first of the Herods to reign
What? Wise men from the east came to Jerusalem (the capitol of Judea)
Why? The wise men announced that they had come to worship the one born King of the Jews.
How? The wise men had come by camel caravan according to traditional thinking”¦have you noticed, not once in Scripture is there a reference to how many had come”¦it could have been many more than the traditional “˜three”™. The number three comes from the gifts that were given later in this passage.
They came seeking to worship”¦they had traveled many miles and for a long period of time.
When we go to worship the God of the Bible”¦do we go seeking to worship Him? As we travel to that place of worship”¦are our thoughts on the object of worship, the living God?
As we go through our week do we actively think about the opportunity to worship? There are many in this world who meet secretly to worship the Lord. If found out, they may be arrested, tortured, imprisoned or even killed”¦because they have chosen to go”¦seeking to worship their Lord and King.
When you and I go to church this coming week”¦how will we go?
Seeking”¦to worship Him?
