E-mail and text messaging have pretty much replaced letter writing. For those who do not like to write letters, e-mails and phone calls are a great way to “˜keep in touch’.
When you go to your mailbox, isn’t it nice to receive a note or letter besides all those catalogs, flyers and bills?
Who do you think would like to receive a hand-written note or a letter today? Wouldn’t they enjoy hearing from you and seeing your hand writing…because they love you and know you?
Luke had a beloved friend to whom he wanted to convey an important message. He wrote a letter with a message that would affect his friend’s eternity.
As this devotional continues to consider the Life of Christ – you and I can think of it as a letter of importance ~ from God to us!
God’s word is for you personally, do you read His words (the Holy Bible) as if He has you in mind? He does!
Think about this letter that Luke wrote, it is one of immense importance – it tells of real people and the reality of happenings in Israel which affected all of humanity. This is a personal narrative that Luke put together from personal interviews with eye-witnesses of Jesus and the events that surrounded His life. Luke had looked for, and found, the ministers of the word that was preached.
(NASB) Luke 1:1-4 “INASMUCH AS many have undertaken to compile an account of the things accomplished among us,
2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the beginning were eye-witnesses and servants of the word,
3 it seemed fitting for me as well, having investigated everything carefully from the beginning, to write it out for you in consecutive order, most excellent Theophilus;
4 so that you may know the exact truth about the things you have been taught.”
This letter is for you…from God…about His Son…
May God’s word change your life ~ as you come to Him day by day, to sit at His table and dine with Him…
