The dictionary defines “˜intercede’ as: to plead on another’s behalf. If God had not provided the necessary protections inherent in salvation through Jesus Christ, if God had not interceded for you and me when the very first sin was committed…we would be “˜dead in the water’. We would not have any hope before the holy God of the Bible.

What can we begin to understand about God’s grace? It is for sinners…everyone is in need of God’s grace through Jesus Christ. Humility is to yield ourselves and ask God for His help and ask Him to teach us His ways. We can no longer assume that we know what God’s ways are. We need to come to recognize that we can no longer go on living as we have been – we need God and we need His grace! He alone will lead us on level ground – no matter our circumstances, no matter our pain and sorrows. We are in need, desperate need, of His grace to intercede in our behalf.

(NASB) Psalm 143:10

“Teach me to do Your will, “˜

For You are my God;

Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.”

What are some possible consequences of living without God’s grace in our lives?

Our lives would not be preserved for life in heaven (everlasting life with God)

Our troubles would keep us imprisoned

Our enemies (sins) would destroy us

God would not be obediently served

God’s love could not be shown to us

God’s grace would not be a factor in our lives

What prayer can be said by those who have received the gift of grace through Jesus Christ?

(NASB) Psalm 143:11-12

“For the sake of Your name, O Lord, revive me.

In your righteousness bring my soul out of trouble.”

12 And in Your lovingkindness, cut off my enemies

And destroy all those who afflict my soul,

For I am Your servant.”

Being God’s servant is to rely on His grace of intercession.

How shall you now pray?
