When God says “go” – we are to go!  We should keep God in our thoughts as we make practical and realistic plans.

Jacob is an example… and his faith in God grew.  He became aware of changed attitudes toward him by his wives family.  God told him to leave and go back to his own family.

Jacob called his two wives out into a field where flocks were kept.  Privacy was essential in this situation.

Jacob recounted what he had observed and acknowledged the God of his father had been with him many years.  Jacob reminded his two wives how he had faithfully served their father with all of his strength.  Yet, despite this service, his father-in-law had cheated him and changed his wages ten times.  Then Jacob brought God into the mix: “God did not allow him to hurt me.”

Jacob knew it was God who had intervened and given him what he needed to support his family, servants and livestock.

The Lord God reminded Jacob of a previous vow, made twenty years earlier.
(NASB) Genesis 31:13 “I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar, where you made a vow to Me; now arise, leave this land, and return to the land of your birth.”

Rachel and Leah, Jacob’s two wives, were in full agreement with him.  Their father had used up all the money Jacob had paid for their bride price.  “… do whatever God has said to you.”
(Genesis 31:14-16)

Being responsive to God is to act and not fear whatever difficulties might be faced in the future.
(NASB) Psalm 146:5 “How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
Whose hope is in the Lord his God… ”
