Paul had been mobbed and beaten.  The mob was trying to kill him.  A Roman commander intervened with some soldiers and rescued Paul.  Due to the violence of the mob, the soldiers actually carried Paul to the barracks.

(NASB) Acts 21:37-39 “As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks, he said to the commander, ‘May I say something to you?’  And he said, ‘Do you speak Greek?
38 ‘Then you are not the Egyptian who some time ago stirred up a revolt and led the four thousand men of the Assassins out into the wilderness?’
39 But Paul said, ‘I am a Jew of Tarsus in Cilicia, a citizen of no insignificant city; and I beg you, allow me to speak to the people.’”

The Roman commander: assumed something that was not even remotely true about Paul.

Have you ever assumed something due to recent events and found out later how wrong you were?  Assumptions are many times – wrong!

Paul: he wanted to speak to the mob that had just tried to kill him.  What would he say to them?  Would he be in their face and talk trash?

The mob was formed by wrong assumptions and bias.  The leaders assumed Paul had desecrated the temple (Acts 21:29-31).
The mob’s intention was to kill Paul.  Yet, Paul asked to speak to them, to tell them what he had been like before he met Jesus Christ.  Paul had been radically changed!

Can you imagine what Paul actually did?
Paul would tell them of his personal experience so they could know Jesus Christ also.
Paul had been radically changed by Jesus.

Can you imagine being radically changed by Jesus?
Radically changed to love others as Christ Jesus loved them and loves them still.
What is the first step?  To agree with God that you need to be saved from your sins by faith in Jesus Christ.  (John 3:16-17)
What is the second step?  To yield yourself to God as your God.  (Romans 12:1-2)
What do you need to know?  To grow in your faith is a step by step process.

The steps all lead to God.
The steps all end at the feet of Jesus.

By faith believing in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, yielding yourself to the living God on a daily basis, even on a moment by moment basis…is to be radically changed!
