God’s people, the sons of Israel, were not treated nicely by many countries and cities. God judged those nations and told why He judged them, they mistreated His people.
Amos, a prophet of God, was given visions of Israel and there were a series of judgments against Damascus, Gaza, Tyre, Edom, Ammon – God judged each of them.
Amos 1:1-15
There were other countries God also judged because of their treatment of Israel. The prophet Amos was faithful to state what God showed him in his visions. Amos 2-9
What does the LORD tell us in the New Testament about revenge?
Romans 12:17-19
“Never pay back evil for evil to anyone.
Respect what is right
in the sight of all men.
If is possible, so far as it depends on you,
be at peace with all men.
Never take revenge, beloved, but leave room
for the wrath of God, for it is written,
‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord.”
God’s Word ~ Alive!
Did you notice what God said?
Never pay back evil for evil.
Respect what is right – in sight of people.
If possible from my perspective,
be at peace with all men,
NEVER take revenge ~
Leave room for God’s wrath
The LORD says,
‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.’
Even when people deserve revenge,
Let it go, God will avenge.
