David wanted to show kindness for Jonathan’s sake after Jonathan was killed in battle. King David asked if there was anyone in the house of Saul to whom David could show the kindness of God? He was told of a son of Jonathan’s who was crippled in both feet. David sent for his dead friend’s son. David gave King Saul’s lands back to his grandson and Mephibosheth ate at King David’s royal table. 2 Samuel 9:1-10
