Korah, and others who agreed with him, rebelled against the LORD’S authority and His words.  They claimed that all the congregation was holy and Moses and Aaron were exalting themselves above the people.  When Moses heard this, he fell on his face.  Then Moses said, tomorrow morning the LORD will show who is His and who is holy.  Moses then told Korah and all those with him to take censers and put fire in them.  You have gone too far!  The LORD will choose who is holy.  Numbers 16:1-7

When you are challenged because of your faith, it is God who is being challenged!
God will vindicate you.

The next day, the LORD separated Korah, all those with him (in number approximately 250 men) from the people, to approach the door of the Tent of Meeting.  They were to take a censer with fire.   “And the glory of the LORD  appeared to all the congregation.”  Numbers 16:19

Korah led a rebellion against the LORD and His leaders.  Many came to side with him.

Moses interceded for the congregation not to be involved with the punishment of Korah and those with him.  God told Moses to get away from the tents of these men.  The wives and children of the rebellious men were standing in the door of their tents.  Moses declared himself innocent of the coming deaths.  “If these people suffer deaths common to man, then the LORD has not sent me to lead you.”  If they die by the LORD bringing an entirely new way to die, the ground opening up and swallowing them, then the LORD has sent me to lead you.  If this happens these men turned their backs on the LORD.
(paraphrase of Numbers 16:28-30)

When Moses finished speaking, the ground under those men and their families split open, swallowing them, the ground then came back together over them and they were seen and heard no more.
Numbers 16:31-33
The other 250 men were consumed by fire from the LORD, for their part in the rebellion.  Numbers 16:34
