The delivered slaves, the sons of Israel, were like who we are, today. Sad to say!
They saw God deliver them out of Egytian slavery, and they immediately began grumbling & complaining! They were upset with Moses and Aaron, it would have been better to die in Egypt where they had enough to eat. They just knew they would die in the wilderness from starvation. Exodus 16:1-3
Aren’t we like that? We are delivered by God from a situation and we immediately forget that and begin to grumble and complain about something we are not yet experiencing.
The LORD had a solution, only He could come up with a miracle which would last about 40 years! Every morning the sons of Israel got up and gathered manna from the ground, it was their bread. They could do various things with it to change it up from manna. They could bake it, they could boil it, they could fry it. This was a test to see if the sons of Israel would walk according to God’s word.
Question: Do you pass this test, every day? Do you eat on God’s word every day? Do you read and study what God wants you to know for each day?
On the 6th day, they were to gather twice the amount as other days. They were not to gather any on the 7th day, the Sabbath. It was a day of rest. Some tried to gather manna on the Sabbath… it didn’t happen! The manna did not come on the 7th day.
Exodus 16:22-30
Grumbling is never attractive! Still the sons of Israel grumbled. Moses told them in the morning you will see the glory of the LORD. You aren’t really grumbling against us, but against the LORD. Exodus 16:6-8
The LORD told Moses, I heard the grumblings, at twilight everyone will eat meat, in the mornings you will have bread and you will know that I am the LORD your God.”
Exodus 16:9-12
The next morning, a fine flake like thing was left after the dew evaporated off. Everyone could gather the manna, enough for their needs that day. The LORD gave the manna to His people, each morning. Exodus 16:13-16
Moses said, keep no left overs! Some did, and it became wormy. Moses became angry with the people, why didn’t they listen?! Whenever we do things “my” way – it is not good! When the sun grew hot, it melted the manna.
We are to eat from God’s table every day. Are you starved for God’s word to you? You have it available to you, every day. If you have a cell phone, you can get a free app with Bibles, in your language probably.
