In the land of Goshen, a section of Egypt in which the sons of Israel lived, a man and a woman from the tribe of Levi married.  They had two children, a girl and a boy, then they had a third child, a son.  Because the Pharaoh said that all boy babies were to be killed when they were born, the mother hid her youngest son for three months.  Exodus 1:22

A mother’s love protects her baby.  After three months, this mother wisely made a wicker basket, covering it with tar and pitch (for water protection).  She put the baby in the basket and hid it among the reeds along the banks of the Nile River.  The daughter stood at a distance to watch the basket.  The daughter of Pharaoh came to the area to bathe in the river.  This mother’s love undoubtedly foresaw what would happen next.  The Pharaoh’s daughter hears the cry of  a baby, sees the basket, sending one of her maids to see what is in the basket.  In pity, the Pharaoh’s daughter recognizes the baby as being one of the Hebrew children.  Exodus 1:5-6

The sister approached the princess, and boldly said, “Shall I go and call a nurse for you among the Hebrew women?”  The princess agreed!  Then the sister of the baby called her mother!

Arrangements were made between the princess and the mother – nurse the child for me and I will pay you.  What a deal!  To be paid to nurse her own baby boy and to participate in his upbringing, until he was weaned!  Exodus 1:7-9

The time came when the princess claimed the child to adopt him.  God’s love protected baby Moses in a special way, then as he grew to manhood, he was given the best education Egypt offered.  He was called Moses by his adoptive mother because she said, “I drew him out of the water.”  Exodus 1:10

God’s Word ~ Alive!

No separation from God’s love for those
whose faith is in Jesus as their Savior.
Nothing will separate you from God’s love,
follower of Christ.

Romans 8:38-39
“For I am convinced that neither death,
nor life, nor angels, nor principalities,
nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing,
will be able to separate us from the love of God,
which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
