Joseph must have been surprised by his sick and dying father, Jacob. Jacob asked for Ephraim and Manasseh, Joseph’s two sons born in Egypt.
Jacob said that the LORD appeared to him and blessed him, he also told them that the LORD promised he would be fruitful and fill the land given to him and his descendants. Jacob adopted those two boys as if they were his sons.
Jacob placed the younger son of Joseph over the older son. His blessings were on both the boys. But the younger was blessed with the larger portion of blessing. Genesis 48:1-22
Isn’t that like God’s sovereignty? We should not argue about what He gives to others over us. We are still loved, accepted, important because we know Jesus as our Savior. We, too, are adopted. We also receive an inheritance as a child of God.
Through faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior, we are adopted as sons to God the Father. This is the intention of His will for us. Praise to God our Father, we are adopted by Him through the glory of His grace. He freely gives us this in His beloved Son. Ephesians 1:5-6
