Many times, our circumstances seem to be not so good. People talking about us, in a derogatory and
mean way. Even when we can’t see God at work, He is. In us! And in the ones bad mouthing us.
We tend to look at our circumstances and go with our feelings, don’t we? Neither are trustworthy and both are unreliable.
Joseph presented his father and brothers to Pharaoh of Egypt. They were given the land of Goshen as the place they would live. There was a severe famine in Egypt and the surrounding countries. Joseph was in charge of giving out grain. At first, Joseph sold the grain for money. Then the people ran out of money, but the famine kept on. Next the people of Egypt gave their livestock to Pharaoh as payment for the grain.
The next year, Joseph took their land as payment for the grain, finally becoming slaves to Pharaoh. However, the priests in Egypt were exempt from selling their land to Pharaoh.
Then another year of famine and the price of grain was paid in produce, ⅕ of the crop was given to Pharaoh. All this time God was at work on behalf of Joseph’s family!
The famine came to an end and Joseph lived 17 years longer. He made his family promise that when they left Egypt, they would take his bones with them and bury him in the family burial cave with Abraham. Genesis 41:56-57; 47:13-26

for good to those who love God,
to those who are called according to His purpose.”
