Jacob had had it!  He was done!  He called his two wives, they were sisters, into a field so they could have privacy.  He had worked for his uncle for 14 years, seven years for each of his wives.  Jacob also overheard his brothers-in-law scheming that Jacob was cheating Laban on the livestock.  Uh-oh, trouble brewing, and Jacob was taking a proactive stance.  The last six years, Jacob’s flocks and herds multiplied, making a total of twenty years that Jacob worked for Laban. Genesis 31:1-21

There was rivalry between the sisters to have male children.  The rivalry was fierce and they involved their personal maids.  Leah, the unloved wife, had six sons and one daughter; while jealous Rachel, the beloved wife, had no children.  Genesis 30:1
She enlisted her personal maid to have a son by Jacob.   She did have two sons by her maid.  Leah, not to be outdone, gave Jacob her personal maid, who bore two sons also.
Finally, Rachel conceived and had Joseph.  Jacob was the father to eleven sons and one daughter.  (Rachel would later have Benjamin and die in childbirth.)

Jacob told his two wives what the LORD told him, to go home and God would be with him.  Jacob also said that Laban had a changed attitude toward him and was not a happy man with him.   Jacob reminded his wives that their father had changed his wages ten times, but God did not let Laban hurt me.  His two wives agreed, it’s time to leave.

Have you ever reached the end of your rope?  When enough is enough?  What to do?

First pray… and seek God’s direction through His word.
Second… seek God’s direction through a godly friend’s advice.
Third… think about your circumstances…
Fourth… do you have peace within?  or do you have unease, unrest with your decision?
If so, begin with step number one.

God’s Word ~ Alive!

Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your path straight.”

When enough is enough, trust the LORD!
