Deceptions come from wrong motives.
Deceptions are deliberate lies.
Genesis 27:1-12
Isaac was old, and couldn’t see so well. He called his eldest and favorite son, Esau, and told him to go hunt and “bring me my favorite dish then I will bless you”.
Isaac said that he didn’t know when he would die (he didn’t die until many years later).
which was his excuse to give the blessing to Esau that day. Jacob wanted to give Esau, his favorite son, the special blessing from father to son.
How many times do we rationalize our choices?
Tents have really thin walls and Rebekah, Isaac’s wife, was hearing what Isaac was planning to do. Rebekah found Jacob, her favorite son, and concocted a plan with him.
It involved deceiving Isaac. Jacob had no objection.
She told Jacob to kill an animal from the flock of goats and bring her the meat to prepare Isaac’s favorite dish. ‘You will take the meal to your dad and he will bless you, before he dies.’ Jacob had no problem with this plan. What he did have a problem with, he was a smooth man, his brother hairy. Jacob said, ‘What if my father feels me, he’ll know I am not Esau and will think I am deceiving him.’ Rebekah’s solution, we’ll take some of the skin of the goat and put it on your arms and neck, skin side down, hairy side up.
Jacob was concerned about his father’s opinion and seeming to be a deceiver in his father’s sight. [That was the plan wasn’t it?]
Jacob agreed with his mother, to deceive Isaac in order to get the blessing. Once the blessing was given, it could not be taken back or given to the other sons. The blessing was a BIG deal.

Proverbs 16:2
“All the ways of a man are clean in his own sight,
But the LORD weighs the motives.”
Psalm 32:2
“How blessed is the man
to whom the LORD
does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit
there is no deceit!”
Jesus also died for the sin of deception, deceit,
do you know Him as your Savior
from such a sin?
