We can choose to live in fear or we can choose to live in peace, no matter how we are treated or what is going on in the world.
Jesus came to bring peace to our hearts. As we live in this week ending in Good Friday and on Sunday, the glorious resurrection of our Savior on Easter, let your thoughts and words be centered on the peace of Christ in your life.
Genesis 26:23-33
Isaac moved to Beersheba, located in the southern area between Israel and Egypt.
The LORD appeared to Isaac and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham (grandfather); Do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you, and multiply your descendants for the sake of My servant Abraham.”
Isaac built an altar and worshiped, calling on the name of the LORD.
At that place, he pitched his tent and his servants dug a well. The king came bringing two of his top officials. Isaac was suspicious… wouldn’t you be suspicious, being in a hostile environment among neighbors who showed hostility and the king brings friends with him to visit?
This king surprised Isaac when he said, We have seen clearly how the LORD has blessed you, so we decided we want to make a treaty with you, an oath between us, a covenant to do no harm to us just as we won’t touch you; to not do anything but good to you and send you away in peace. You are specially blessed by the LORD.
Isaac responded by giving a great feast – they ate and drank together. The next morning these four men got up and exchanged promises, oaths with each other. The three men had come in peace and they left in peace.
That same day, some servants of Isaac came and told him they found water.
The Philistine king had feared Isaac’s wealth and power. Due to that power – peace was established.
Isaac lived out God’s truth we find in Titus 3:2 “to malign no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing every consideration for all men.”
