Genesis 19:1-29
Two angels went into Sodom in the evening.  Lot, Abraham’s nephew, was sitting in the gate of Sodom.  When Lot saw the two “men” he went to them and invited them to his home for the night.  They refused saying they would stay in the town square overnight.  Lot insisted they come home with him.  So they agreed to his hospitality.  Lot spread a feast for them at his home.  Before the two men could lay down, the men of the city surrounded Lot’s home.  And the crowd of men shouted “Where are the men who came to you tonight?  Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them.”  Genesis 19:5

Lot went outside, shutting the door after himself, and pleaded with the crowd to not act wickedly.  He even offered his two daughters to do with them what they would like. The crowd wanted the men, not the daughters.  They said Lot was judging them  and they would treat Lot worse than the two strangers.  Suddenly, the two men inside the house reached out their hands through the open door and pulled Lot inside, shutting the door forcibly, saving Lot from the crowd.  The two angels struck those outside the house with blindness so no one could find the door.  Genesis 19:6-11

The two men then said to Lot, Whom else do you have here?  You need to leave with them, we are about to destroy Sodom. Because the outcry has become so great before the LORD that the LORD has sent us to destroy it.  Genesis 19:12-13

Lot went and spoke to his sons-in-law, who were going to marry his daughters, they refused and thought Lot was joking.

Morning dawned and the angels urged Lot to leave with his two daughters and wife, so they would not be punished with the city.
Lot hesitated!  So the two angels seized Lot’s hand and the hands of his wife and two daughters and brought them out of Sodom.  Genesis 19:14-16

Lot was told to escape for your life!  Do not look back, escape to the mountains.  Do you know what Lot did?  He argued!  No, we don’t want to leave.  I will go only so far, to the next town, it’s a small town so that my life will be saved.  The two angels agreed to grant his request.
But they urged again, Hurry, escape there, now!  For we cannot do anything until you get there.
Genesis 19:17-22

How many times do we not take the LORD seriously?  How many times do we dwadle and put off what we know would please the LORD?
