Genealogies are more important to some people than to others. The Jewish people were very careful to record their genealogies. As it happens, that is important today! The genealogical records from the days of Abraham reveal the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the coming King. He is Messiah, and the proof is in the genealogical records of Matthew 1:1-18 and Luke 3:23-28.
God worked in the ancestry of Jesus, His only begotten Son. God will work in your life, whether your ancestors believed Him to be their Savior or not. Are you a follower of Christ? Have you received Him as your Savior? How did your ancestors respond to the Lord Jesus? You may or may not know. One side of my family, my ancestors went to church for weddings and funerals. On the other side they believed in Jesus, and faithfully attended church each Sunday. Their lives and speech reflected their love for Jesus.
Paul wrote of his past of unbelief and his hope in Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 1:12-14
“I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service,
even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief;
and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus.”
