All the people on earth spoke the same language. They decided to build a city and a tower to reach heaven. They wanted their name to be known. Genesis 11:1-4
Pride does that, doesn’t it? Wanting one’s name to be known and recognized by others.
The LORD came down from heaven to see the city and the tower they were building.
The LORD evaluated what the people were building. He decided that with the same language people would do anything that they proposed.
The LORD has unlimited ways to work out His purposes and plans. This time He chose to confuse the people by giving them different languages to speak so they could not understand or communicate with each other. This forced them to scatter over the earth. The city and tower were not completed. The city became known as Babel. It was there the languages were confused.
When people plan – they are self-centered much of the time. When God plans – it is for His purposes and our best good.
Just think of the multitude of dialects of languages that are around the world. God created languages – your language, your dialect.
People’s plans were thwarted by the confusion of many languages.

Proverbs 16:9
“The mind of man plans his way,
But the LORD directs his steps.”
Are your plans confused or put in place by the LORD?
