1 Chronicles 22:1-5
David was told by God that he was not to build a house for God (temple).  But rather, one of his sons would build it.
  David yielded to God.

When you read God’s word, do you listen?  Really listen and then yield to what God has to say to you?

David then prepared the materials to build a house for God.
“Listen” what he prepared!  “Large quantities of iron” and “more bronze than could be weighed”.  1 Chronicles 22:3
Timbers of cedar logs beyond number and these came from Sidon and Tyre.
1 Chronicles 22:3-4

David thought ahead – he thought his son, Solomon, would be young and inexperienced.
he thought about the house which would be built, it would be famous and glorious – well known beyond Israel’s borders.
For these reasons, David “made ample preparations before his death.”
1 Chronicles 22:5

How are you preparing for your family after you die?  Many leave money and/or a business.  Others pass on heirlooms, handed down from generation to generation.
Many people put a child or a spouse on their bank account or other legal matters.
Have you prepared for your death so others will be able to navigate those rough waters a little bit easier?

David’s heart was to build a house for his God.  God said, “no”.  But David could still prepare ahead of time to help his son, Solomon, when he would build the temple.

What of the  spiritual welfare of your family?  Are you living your life in such a way as to others will say, “He/she was a godly man/woman”?
How are you praying for your family members, follower of Christ?

Are you, follower of Christ, preparing them for when you die?  So they will have no regrets?
Should you say that you aren’t ready to die, yet?  If you do, your loved ones may have guilt that they didn’t do enough for you.
