Right Motive; Wrong Method
1 Chronicles 13:1-14
Right Motive
King David desired to have many Jewish people involved with bringing the ark of God into Jerusalem. The people agreed with David, ‘let’s do it!’
David assembled all Israel together – to bring the ark of God to Jerusalem.
Wrong Method
The ark of God (the symbol of His presence) was put on a new cart.
David and “all Israel” were celebrating before God with instruments and songs.
uh-oh – a Natural Reaction
The cart was pulled by oxen; the oxen stumbled, making the ark wobble. Uzza, put his hand out to steady the ark and God’s anger was seen when Uzza died – right there, right then.
David became angry because of Uzza’s death.
David feared God and asked this question, “How can I bring the ark of God home to me?” 1 Chronicles 13:12
David stopped moving the ark and it was put into a house. The ark was there for three months and in that time, that family was blessed by God.
The very presence of God was with that family of Obed-edom for three months.
1 Chronicles 13:14
Today, you can have the presence of God with you! In your heart, now and forever! When anyone receives Christ Jesus as their Savior – at that instant the “anyone” is given God the Holy Spirit to live within them… forever and ever.
Consider this ~
Think about this for yourself or for “anyone”
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world,
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish,
but have eternal life.”
