1 Chronicles 12:38-40
Behind the scenes – it always takes planning, preparation and implementation.

Thousands of men from the tribes of Israel went to Hebron for one purpose!  To make David king over all of Israel, they were of one mind-set, they were on the same page.

Three days of eating and drinking – where did the food and drink come from?  The gathered troops brought their weapons of war, they wouldn’t have brought food enough for three days of eating and drinking.

Their relatives prepared the food – can you imagine the planning, the cooking, the preparation which took place?

What about the people you worship with?  Do you have get togethers and have plenty of food and drinks for one meal?  Have you thanked those people who are behind the scenes of your feast?  Have you thanked them for serving the LORD in this way?

The hours of planning, the preparation and watching it all come together so people can talk, eat, drink and laugh together.  How satisfying is that?!!

The behind the scenes support of such an undertaking takes WORK!  Even if it is “pot luck”, people bringing dishes to share.

Back to the Scriptures – the relatives from far away and near Hebron brought food on donkeys, camels, mules and on oxen.
Great quantities of flour, cakes, fig cakes, and bunches of raisins, wine, oil, oxen and sheep.

Food can turn a meal into a festival.
1 Chronicles 12:39 “There was joy indeed in Israel.”
