The Weight of sin.
Reuben – lost his inheritance as the first-born of his father, Jacob. His own willful sin of lust caused this loss. He defiled his father’s bed with one of Jacob’s concubines. Genesis 35:22; 49:3-4; 1 Chronicles 5:1
When anyone willfully sins – what to do? REPENT!
This is why Jesus died.
Isaiah 53:12
“Because He (Messiah Jesus Christ) poured out Himself to death,
And was numbered with the transgressors;
Yet He Himself bore the sin of many (even my sins!)
And interceded for the transgressors.” (I am one of those transgressors.)
I am not to take pride in my sins – they are worthless to me and they demean me. My sins cost Jesus Christ His life!
Jesus is God – and He took on Himself ALL sins.
Think of that! Beyond my imagination about the weight of ALL sins – that is what Jesus took as if He committed every one of those sins!
When I sin – it is as if a weight weighs me down. Repent! Jesus’ very words after He was baptized in the Jordan River and after He was tempted 40 days and 40 nights.
Matthew 3:13-17 – Baptism Matthew 4:1-17 – After His temptations were successfully accomplished. [Remember: temptations are not sins]
Jesus said, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 4:17
Jude 1:24-25 “Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,
25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time (the past) and now (the present) and forever (the future). Amen.”
Consider this ~
Repent – Now is the day, the time to repent
and be “blameless with great joy”!
