Everyone has to start somewhere
Corinth was known for its many religions and temples. Prostitution abounded in the name of the gods. Corinth was “sin city”.
When Paul established a church there, it was to people who knew no other way of life but sin according to God.
They needed freedom, found in Christ alone. Freedom from living in sin.
Christianity is a marked contrast of living life compared to those who do not know the living Lord Jesus.
What about today? Would Paul find such a big difference in many large cities of the world today compared to Corinth? I think not.
We need to read carefully what Paul said to the new believers in Corinth.
He encouraged them by telling them “For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.” 1 Corinthians 3:9
“Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16
Paul warned them of keeping faithful to one’s spouse. 1 Corinthians 7
Paul reminded them “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
Once anyone receives Christ Jesus as their Savior… there will be changes in their choices and behavior, for we now want to live according to God’s way.
Think about this!
Everyone has to start somewhere in their walk with Christ as their Savior.
Good News!
God’s word tells us the best way to live!
