Ecclesiastes 1:2 “Vanity of vanities,’ says the Preacher,
Vanity of vanities!  All is vanity.’”
Reread the above verse and replace “vanity” with futility.

Question: What does anything accomplish?  No matter what some people do – it turns to dust – many times, it seems they have failure after failure.  Failed relationships, failed businesses, failed families.
Those people could very well ask, “What does anything accomplish?”

The writer of Ecclesiastes found no true and lasting satisfaction in life, no matter how successful he was, no matter the wealth he accumulated.  And he accumulated a lot!
  Still he wasn’t satisfied.

The writer came to the conclusion that satisfaction was found in God and not in himself or his accomplishments.  And the writer?  He was King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived. He was wealthy and had a very large family.

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 “The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person.  (underlining added)
14 For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.”

Think about this!

Of what are you not satisfied?
Everyone goes through the ups and downs of life.
Fear God
Keep His commandments
