God’s people, walk in  the ways of the Lord – steadfastly worshiping and following His words.
Samuel was such a man.  Samuel was the last judge in Israel, he was also a prophet of God.

The Lord God instructed Samuel to anoint Saul as king.  The people rejected God’s way of ruling them through judges.  So the people got what they asked for.  Uh-oh, many times, that is not a wise thing to do.

Saul looked like a king!  He was tall and handsome, but his heart was not wholeheartedly obedient to God.  1 Samuel 9:2

Saul rejected God’s word to wait for Samuel.  Saul arrogantly worshiped God without doing it God’s way.  Saul’s kingdom was taken away.  His family would not be in the lineage of the kings or the Messiah.  1 Samuel 13:13-14

Saul did not know the Lord God.  Samuel told him that the Lord delighted in obedience to His voice rather than sacrifices and burnt offerings.  “Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice.” 1 Samuel 15:22

Saul’s disobedience was rebellion toward God.  Saul, in disobeying God’s word, actually rejected God!  And Saul was rejected as king by the living God.
1 Samuel 15:23

~ Think about this! ~

Think carefully: are you rejecting God and His word to you?
