Saul became an outspoken believer in Jesus Christ. He knew the Scriptures of the Old Testament well and he proved that Jesus is Messiah.
Acts 9:22
This did not sit well with the Jewish leaders in Damascus. They plotted together to kill Saul.
“… but their ploy became known to Saul. All the gates were watched, to be sure he did not escape day or night.” They so wanted to put him to death.
Acts 9:23-24
Saul gained followers in the brief few days after he became a follower of Jesus Christ. Those disciples took him by night and put him in a large basket and lowered the basket through “an opening in the wall” of Damascus. So he escaped. Acts 9:25
What are you willing to do, even let yourself be put in a large basket and secretly smuggled away from your circumstances? Many believers in the world have escaped harsh and/or brutal circumstances in dramatic fashion.
I have never had to “escape” for my life. Perhaps you have. I think that escape is very often an act of faith and bravery.
~ Take it to heart ~
When escaping, we can do so by trusting in our Lord Jesus with all of our heart, not trying to understand with our limited knowledge or understanding. We are to always acknowledge our God, and He will make our paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Keep your eyes on Jesus, He will lead you on a sure path.
