Jesus ~ the One You Need
Peter must have been surprised when he entered Cornelius’ home and found a Gentile audience waiting for him.
He had been asked by Cornelius to give them a message from God. Peter then launched into his sermon. Peter prefaced his sermon by acknowledging God’s impartiality toward all whose faith is in Jesus Christ.
Then he continued:
(NASB) Acts 10:36-38 “The word which He (God) sent to the sons of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all) –
37 you yourselves know the thing which took place throughout all Judea, starting from Galilee, after the baptism which John (the Baptist) proclaimed.
38 You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”
The events which Peter spoke of would have been well known in the area. Peter immediately pointed to the Lord Jesus Christ as he proclaimed the Father Who anointed Jesus. Peter also proclaimed the Holy Spirit who anointed Jesus and gave Him power. It was Jesus who “went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38)
Peter was a witness, along with other men and women, of all the things Jesus did throughout Israel and in Jerusalem. It was in Jerusalem that Jesus was killed by crucifixion (He was hung on a cross and died).
God raised Him from the dead on the third day. He resurrected Jesus physically. Jesus was visible and touchable (He has skin, bones, muscle, etc. even today… in heaven). Jesus’ resurrected body was a physical body and many witnessed this fact. The disciples (and others) saw the resurrected Lord Jesus eat and drink after He rose from the dead. Peter himself witnessed Jesus both before His death and after His resurrection. (Acts 10:39-41)
Jesus, the living resurrected Savior, for you… for anyone who trusts, leaning their full weight on Jesus. By having faith that He saves you from your sins and saving you from the wrath of God (God’s wrath is against your sins).
Jesus ~ Savior ~ Lord ~ Master ~ Son of God ~ Son of Man ~ Redeemer ~ Eternal ~ Immanuel ~ the One who saves you from your sins.
Do you know Him? Have you received Him? Now is the day of salvation… your salvation… salvation for all who turn to Jesus asking Him to be Savior and Lord. If you already know Jesus in this way, with whom are you sharing this wonderful news?
~ Take it to heart ~
We all need Jesus!
Without faith in Him, we will justly suffer God’s wrath for our sins.
Without faith in the Lord Jesus Christ we will not spend eternity in His presence.
Do you know Him? He died in your place on that cross! He suffered the wrath of God for you because of your sins! That is why you need Jesus. And this is why you need to tell another and another and another, so they too can know the freedom, the peace which God gives.
Jesus… is the One we all need!
