Messiah is the Jewish word for “The Anointed One of God” and Khristos (Christ) is the Greek word for Messiah.

Saul’s conversion on the road to Damascus was dramatic and it certainly got his attention.  Jesus Christ suddenly encountered him on that road and spoke to him.  Saul was blinded for three days then his sight was restored by God through an obedient follower of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 9:1-19)

Saul spent several days with the disciples of Jesus in Damascus then he went into the synagogues.  (Acts 9:19-20)  His original mission was to arrest the followers of Christ and take them to Jerusalem.  His mission became one of proclaiming the Lord Jesus as “He is the Son of God.”  How did those Jewish men and women react/respond to Saul’s message?

(NASB) Acts 9:21 “All those hearing him continued to be amazed, and were saying, ‘Is this not he who in Jerusalem destroyed those who called on this name, and who had come here for the purpose of bringing them bound before the chief priests?”

Saul was not a shy or timid man.  Once he understood that the resurrected (the physically living) Jesus Christ was Messiah, Saul boldly proclaimed Him to be “the Son of God.”  Jesus had shown Himself to Saul on that Damascus road!

Saul knew the Old Testament prophecies and Jesus Christ fit all that pointed to Messiah.

(Amplified Bible) Acts 9:22 “But Saul increased all the more in strength, and continued to confound and put to confusion the Jews who lived in Damascus by comparing and examining evidence and proving that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah).”

Proof positive…Scriptures prophesy of Messiah.  And the Lord Jesus Christ has fulfilled all of those prophecies pointing to His first Advent…He came as a baby, born in Bethlehem, according to Scripture.  He lived and ministered, fulfilling Scripture.  He died fulfilling Scripture of the Suffering Servant of God.  He was resurrected, according to Scripture.  And all these fulfilled prophecies affect you and me.  Do you believe Jesus to be the Son of God?  Do you believe that it is only through belief in Him that you can be saved for all eternity?

(NASB) Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

What about the Scriptures which prophesy of Messiah’s coming to rule and reign as King?  He will!  And all of those prophecies will also be fulfilled.
