NASB) Acts 6:7 “The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith.”
What are some of the things we can learn from the above verse?
*The word of God kept spreading in spite of the admonitions of the Council of Seventy trying to stop the apostles from preaching and teaching about the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 6:40)
God’s word cannot be contained…people have tried stopping it ever since the first century and before … and… it cannot be done. It is not because of the people but because God is behind it.
His word is eternal (Psalm 119:89). His word is truth (Psalm 119:160).
*Where God’s word is received from the teaching and preaching of all of His truths, believers are added to the churches. Let us continually trust God in our circumstances.
Even in countries and areas of the world in which there is much persecution today, many people become believers because of God’s truths being preached, taught, and lived.
*When spiritual leaders believe, they become obedient to faith in Jesus Christ.
What was being taught? What was being preached?
(NASB) Acts 4:12 “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
The spread of the word of God (Scriptures) continues to impact those who become “obedient to the faith” in the Lord Jesus Christ.
To become “obedient to the faith” in Jesus Christ is to be changed, it is to be yielded to God and His unchanging word (Scriptures).
~ Take it to heart ~
For those who are teaching and preaching this message…continue on, you are in good company of the apostles.
For those who are hearing God’s word of truth…my prayer is that you will become “obedient to the faith” found in the Lord Jesus Christ.
