The differences (and there are many) between socialism/communism and the Christian community are seen in God’s power in the lives of believers and in their motives driving their actions.

“Listen” as you read the following Scripture:
(NASB) Acts 4:32-35 “And the congregation of those who believed (in Jesus Christ) were of one heart and soul; and not one of them claimed that anything belonging to him was his own, but all things were common property to them.
33 And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all.
34 For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were owners of land or houses would sell them and bring the proceeds of the sales
35 and lay them at the apostles’ feet, and they would be distributed to each as any had need.”
Did you notice, this was voluntary, not forced upon anyone?!

What are some of the basic differences between socialism/communism and this early churches Christian community?
*the government was not involved with the giving of monies
*the people were not coerced or forced to give to one another’s needs
*no person was forced to sell their property for the greater good of the Christian community
*the apostles were actively giving their eye-witness testimony of the resurrection of Jesus Christ
*the apostles gave out the glorious, good news with great power (and that power came from God the Holy Spirit)
*no Christian was in need of the necessities of life, they were met by the generosity and love of other believers in Jesus
*selling personal property was voluntary on the part of individuals
*the apostles distributed the monies where needed (it was not through political influences or pressure)

Believers are to willingly and generously give to the basic necessities of other believers.

Christ Jesus was born I (and we get to celebrate His birth this coming Friday!), He willingly and generously gave to all believers in Him as their Savior.

When a need arises in the life of another (whether they are a believer in Christ or not), how will you wisely respond?  Not only during this season of Christmas, but all year long.

Differences between the follower of Christ and those without the living God are noticeable – the power of God in the lives of believers makes the differences apparent.  The motives behind the actions (of believers in Jesus Christ) also make a decisive difference.

~ Take it to heart ~

All followers of Christ are witnesses to His birth, His life, His death and His resurrected life!
