Peter’s Day of Pentecost sermon concluded with the following exhortation and promise:

(NASB) Acts 2:38-39 “…‘Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39 ‘For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.’”

Exhortation:
“Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins…”

That exhortation is the same today as it was on that long ago Day of Pentecost.
You and I need to repent… to turn from our sins.  We need to turn to the living God of the Bible.  We need to be forgiven of our sins through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by asking forgiveness from God.  That is repentance.

This exhortation is for you to take to heart…to be convinced of your need before the living God of the Bible.  “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins…”

Promise:
“…and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

That promise is the same today as it was on that long ago Day of Pentecost.  When we acknowledge, confess and turn from our sins by asking Jesus to be our Savior we are given the promised gift of the Holy Spirit of God.

This promise is for you.  “…and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Your children and other people in your sphere of influence will also receive this promise…when they turn to the living God of the Bible.  “For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”

‘Oh Lord, Giver of Salvation, Giver of forgiveness, Giver of acceptance into Your family as Your child, Giver of Your Holy Spirit to guide, comfort and help.
Hear my prayer for my family and friends.  Bring us to Yourself; bring us to faith in Jesus Christ.  We want to receive the Holy Spirit.
In the name of Jesus Christ Your Son…Amen!’
