Highest level of revelation
Jesus was weary at the end of a day, He sat down beside an old well in Samaria. A woman comes to draw water and Jesus asks for a drink. Then Jesus takes the conversation to a spiritual level about living water.
Again, Jesus shifts onto a higher level and gets really personal.
NASB John 4:16-20 “… ‘Go, call your husband.’
17 The woman answered, ‘I have no husband.’ Jesus said to her, ‘You have correctly said, ‘I have no husband;
18 for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; this you have said truly.’
19 The woman said to Him, ‘Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.’
20 ‘Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.’”
Jesus then takes the conversation to a higher level yet about worshiping God the Father.
NASB John 4:21-23 “Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.
22 ‘You worship what you do not know, for salvation is from the Jews.
23 But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.’”
Now the highest level, the epitome of revelation: Jesus declares Himself – the Messiah!
He does this to an unknown and unnamed Samaritan… woman! Women, you are valued by the living Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One of God!
NASB John 4:24-26 “‘God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.’
25 The woman said to Him, ‘I know that Messiah is coming (He who is called Christ); when that One comes, He will declare all things to us.’
26 Jesus said to her, ‘I who speak to you am He.’”
I encourage you to respond to the Lord Jesus… to that highest level of revelation… He is the Anointed One of God, the Savior, the Shepherd, God the Son, who came to this earth for you!
~ Take it to heart ~
Jesus said later in His life, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” John 14:6
Jesus is the highest level of revelation.
