2018 was one of the hardest years of my life. It began and ended with things I thought were too hard to bear. I thought life couldn’t get worse. I felt I was emotionally taken to the point of death.
John 19:1 (NIV) “Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged.”
There isn’t much elaboration in the gospels about Jesus being flogged. Mosaic law states that 40 lashes minus one stop short of the person dying. We don’t know exactly how many times Jesus was flogged. But, most likely, He was taken to the point of death.
Being in that place is like being in a desert. Dry. Abandoned. Lost. Painful. But God promises us that He will lead us home. He is with us. He loves us more than we may ever fully understand.
Reach out to God in those times.
