Hey, life isn’t fair! Have you thought that? How do you respond to bad “stuff” happening in your life?
Followers of Christ, following Christ doesn’t mean you are untouchable by the bad “stuff” in life. Job found that out. Job did not know about the scene in heaven before the “one day” he was stripped of everything; his wealth, his livelihood, and his ten children. Job 1:14-19
Listen in to this first scene in heaven:
NASB Job 1:6-7 “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD , and Satan also came among them.
7 The LORD said to Satan, ‘From where do you come?’ then Satan answered the LORD, ‘From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.”
Follower of Christ listen to what Peter said centuries later:
NASB 1 Peter 5:8-11 “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.
10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you.
11 To Him be dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”
None of us know the scene in heaven which triggers life on this earth. But this we do know! God is greater than all the bad “stuff” which Satan throws at us.
Continued conversation in heaven between the LORD and Satan:
NASB Job 1:8-12 “The LORD said to Satan, ‘Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.
9 Then Satan answered the LORD, ‘Does Job fear God for nothing?
10 ‘Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.
11 ‘But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face.’
12 Then the LORD said to Satan, ‘Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him.’ So Satan departed from the presence of the LORD.”
~ Take it to heart ~
Remember God is greater than Satan:
NASB 1 Peter 5:9 “But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.”
