Your reputation hinges, rests on your motives, your thoughts, words and actions.

Job’s reputation was impeccable.  God said so.  The words the Scripture uses to describe Job:
NASB Job 1:1 “There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job; and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil.”

Would the LORD God say you are without blame before Him?  Would He say you are upright, honest and just; and do you rightly fear God?  Do you consciously choose to turn from evil?

Job did and his reputation was GOOD in the eyes of God.

Did you know you also can be without blame before the Judge of all the earth?  How?  Not by any of your works… it is all about the work of Jesus in your place on the cross.  The Son of God did all the sacrificial work needed for you to be blameless before the Almighty God.  Ask Him to be your Savior from your sins.

Would the LORD God say you are honest and just?  In other words, are you upright from God’s point of view?  Being honest with God is wise.  Our pride and self-will get in the way of being completely honest, truthful with ourselves, with God and with others.

What about “turning away from evil” when no one is watching?  When do you practice self-control with your actions and words?  “Turning away from evil” is choosing to turn from evil motives, evil thoughts, words and actions no matter if you are with someone or alone.  Your actions will eventually expose your motives.

~ Take it to heart ~

Our actions and words give away our true motives.
