Have you ever been questioned by someone about why you do what you do? If so, what is your answer? I would like to hope that my answer is: ‘I am here to do God’s will.’ As Jesus said, “‘For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.’” John 6:38 (NIV)
On the way home from Jerusalem, Mary and Joseph realized that Jesus was not traveling with them. He was nowhere to be found.
Luke 2:45-49 (NIV) “When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, ‘Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.’ ‘Why were you searching for me?’ he asked. ‘Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?’”
Consider what you do and why you do it. Is our goal to serve God even if others don’t understand? “But they (Mary and Joseph) did not understand what he was saying to them.” Luke 2:50 (NIV)
Is our motivation borne out of love for God and to do His will?
Do we even know what God wants us to do?
He will show us, followers of Christ, when we ask and look for His Will.
