The writer of the book of John identifies John the Baptist – a witness to testify about the Light.  Why would he be a witness, testifying about the Light?  So that all might believe through him Jesus – John the Baptist was a true witness who states truth.

1- a true witness does not hide any facts
2- a true witness gives what they saw and heard, what they experienced about the person they are telling about
3- It is a first-hand account

John the Baptist had a disclaimer – he was not the Light.
John was sent by God “to testify about the Light.”

What John (the writer of the Gospel of John) has to say is believable about the Lord Jesus Christ.  He spent many hours and days with Jesus for about three years… he had the privilege of walking with Jesus on the paths of Galilee and in Judea.  They had one-on-one interaction.  Have you ever read John’s testimony of the Light?  If you have access to a Bible, you are encouraged to read the book of John in the New Testament.

Who do you believe?
Who do you follow?  Is that person reliable?  Is that person right about their views of God and His word?  Is the Lord God even a part of their thinking?  Even their actions and words?

Who do you testify about to others?  Yourself?  Another person?  Or the Lord Jesus Christ?
BTW – the Light is another name for the Lord Jesus.

Don’t we testify about those we believe and trust to be telling the truth?  Be careful of who you hang with… your friends tell a lot about who you are!

Who do you believe?

Listen to what John (the writer of the Gospel of John) wrote about John the Baptist  after he gave a synopsis of God the Son… the Word.

NASB John 1:6-8 “There came a man sent from God, whose name was John (the Baptist).
7 He came as a witness, to testify about the Light (that is the Lord Jesus Christ), so that all might believe through him. (John the Baptist)
8 He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.”

What is your name?  Are you a witness testifying to the Lord Jesus Christ, so that all may believe your words about Jesus?

None of us are the Light, but, follower of Christ, we are to go out and testify about the Light.
There is only one way to do that!  First you must believe in Jesus.
