This time in history will be remembered as the COVID-19 pandemic.  A virus which affected the world and its economies.  Before this time in our lives, I knew of other plagues throughout history… and always thought in terms of death of 100’s of thousands… now I wonder how did the economies recover?  How did the plagues affect the people who continued to live?  Was there anger which spilled over in the cities?

The effects of COVID-19 are on-going.  In fact, will the effects ever stop?  By this time, months later, I believed life would be pretty much back to normal.  Not so!  Most of us are being forced into a different lifestyle.  For many it is a simplified lifestyle.  For others it may feel like prison, a restricted life.  What about taking an “about turn”… like people who are marching.  Left, Right.  Left, Right.  About turn.  Face the other way!  Instead of grumbling and grousing or being angry, become thankful.

Think of this new lifestyle as one of freedom.  Freedom from the old and looking at a new way of life, at least for now.

Where do we begin – our thoughts, our motives?  God says we should begin with our heart attitude.

“Watch over your heart with all diligence,
For from it flow the springs of life.”
NASB Proverbs 4:23

Jesus said,
“The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.”  Luke 6:45 NASB

What fills your heart?  Is it the good treasure of God’s words?  OR is it the evil treasure of man’s utter disregard for the living God and His words?  Proverbs 7:1

Man, without God, has evil hidden in his heart – for a time.  What is hidden will be found, will be exposed by the very person trying to hide the evil which is at home in his heart.

Words and actions will betray him.  He will expose himself.  The hidden motives will be revealed, the well-kept secrets of one’s motives and purposes will we seen.

In these Coronavirus days, what treasures are in your heart?
