Followers of Christ: Reconciled!
You and I are loved by the living God. Why? Because He created us and desires a relationship with us.
As believers in Christ, we are reconciled to God. How? When the followers of Christ received Jesus as our Savior – we are welcomed into God’s family. We are now “in Christ”.
We are children of God the Father through faith in His beloved Son. The name of His Son is Jesus Christ. Christ is the Greek for Messiah. In Hebrew, Messiah is the Anointed One of God.
We become a “new creature”. “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB
What are some of the “old things”? The old way of thinking, the old way of working and doing and living. The old habits which are not healthy for us. Our past sins. We have been forgiven… of the old things, our sins, by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He died on a cross with your sins and mine on Him. He paid the price of our sins… it is Jesus who reconciled us to God the Father.
“Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
2 Corinthians 5:18-20 NASB
Think about this: We are to live life from God’s perspective, not our own. We do not need to wallow in memories which are “downers”, “the might have been”, or “if only”!
We are reconciled to God the Father.
We are freed to live as a new creature “in Christ” as our Savior and Lord.
We are freed from our past.
NASB John 1:12 “But as many as receive Him,, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,
13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”
~ Take it to heart ~
Follower of Christ – you are reconciled with the living God … into eternity through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior!
Do you pray for everyone you know and love that they would be reconciled with God through faith in Jesus as their Savior?
