How did Jesus “handle” false accusations and true facts?

Jesus was arrested after being betrayed by Judas Iscariot, one of His twelve disciples.

Then Jesus was illegally tried by the chief priests, officers of the temple and Jewish elders. Luke 22:42, 54, 65-71

Jesus was then taken to Pilate, the Roman governor over Israel.  Luke 23:1
“And they began to accuse Him, saying, ‘We found this man misleading our nation (lie #1) and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar (lie #2 – Luke 20:22-26), and saying that He Himself is Christ (Messiah), a King (True fact).”

Accusers, many times, will say anything to get others to believe them, to get their agenda accomplished.

Pilate was onto the accusers’ lies – he asked Jesus one question.  That question was about the one truth.
“So Pilate asked Him saying, ‘Are you the King of the Jews?’  And Jesus answered him and said, “It is as you say.”  Luke 23:3

Jesus did not sidestep Pilate’s question – He was forthright and honest, “It is as you say.”
How did Pilate respond to Jesus’ accusers?  “I find no guilt in this man.”  Luke 23:4

Jesus was, and is, Messiah, the Anointed One of God!
“Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,’
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death–
even death on a cross!
9Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.”
NIV Philippians 2:6-11

~ Take it to heart ~

Jesus never backed off from God’s truth – He was, and is, Messiah!
He is the King to whom all knees will bow.
