NASB Luke 22:60 “But Peter said, ‘Man, I do not know what you are talking about.’  Immediately, while he was still speaking, a rooster crowed.”

Hours earlier – while the eleven disciples and Jesus were still in the upper room after the Passover meal, Jesus warned Peter that ‘Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”
Luke 22:31-32 NASB

Peter stated “… I am ready to go to prison and to death.”  Luke 22:33
Then Jesus told him – the rooster will crow after you have denied knowing Me three times.
Luke 22:34

Jesus knew Peter better than Peter knew Peter.
Jesus knows us better than we know ourselves.

Peter did deny Jesus, three times to three different people, one being a servant girl.
Luke 22:54-60

When that rooster crowed, Jesus turned and looked at Peter.  Then Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had told him, ‘Before a rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.’”  Luke 22:61

How did Peter respond to that look from Jesus and remembering what He told him?
“And he went out and wept bitterly.”  Luke 22:62

What causes you to look at your circumstances and not walk by faith in the Lord Jesus?

What I learned about myself: a CPA procrastinated preparing my income tax return and this caused me to be anxious, angry and my attention turned from trusting Jesus.  It took five days and prayer to yield to my Savior.  To come to the realization “It is well with my soul” despite my circumstances and emotions.

“… a rooster crowed.”
We are to walk by faith when our circumstances are difficult and when life is wonderful.

~ Take it to heart ~

What is stopping you from walking by faith?
Let this be the time “… a rooster crowed” to get you back to trusting Jesus in your circumstances.
