Unknown, unnamed – yet so important!
Two men… one is a servant, the other an owner of a house with a large upper room, furnished for 13 men to have a Passover meal together.
You and I are probably unknown and unnamed servants and perhaps owners of a home where Jesus could become known to others.
Jesus made private arrangements in advance of the actual day. Preparation and timing were very important. Jesus was a wanted Man… the religious leaders were out to kill Him.
A clandestine meeting was put into action when an unknown and unnamed male servant carried a water jar through the streets of Jerusalem. (Usually only women did that labor.) Following this man, Peter and John were led to an owner of a house which had a large upper room ready for Jesus to have a last Passover meal with His disciples. Luke 22:1-12
Privacy was assured by such actions, as well as protection from Judas Iscariot’s betrayal happening too soon. Luke 22:1-6
The servant took a risk when he led two of Jesus’ disciples to a house. He could have been detected and followed.
The owner of the house took a great risk – having Jesus and the twelve disciples in his house for hours during the rituals of the Passover meal.
Two men – Jesus involved these two unknown and unnamed men for His purposes, His glory.
These were the hours just before Jesus would be arrested, illegally tried, sentenced to death, and then die on a cross.
Two men – key players in this drama of Jesus’ last supper!
Two men – unknown, unnamed – yet so important!
Your actions are important – to advance God’s kingdom, to glorify God Himself to a watching world.
