Beneficiaries of SelfLESSness
During this world-wide crisis of COVID-19, many CEO’s and others in their organizations gave up their salaries for a period of time. Why? So the workers would be assured of their pay.
SelfLESSness is highly commendable. SelfLESSness is sacrificial.
Many people are the beneficiaries of such sacrifices.
Consider Zaccheus’ history. It is a true story of sacrifice because of love and appreciation for Jesus.
Jesus entered Jericho with a large crowd around Him. He was passing through this city on His way to Jerusalem. In this crowd was a man who was the chief tax collector and very rich. He was also “small in stature.” He wanted to see Jesus, but he couldn’t see around the people between him and Jesus. He was an intelligent man and he could tell what street Jesus was using, so he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree. He could see Jesus coming, and when Jesus got to that tree, He looked up and called Zaccheus by name! “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” Luke 19:1-5
Well, Zaccheus didn’t waste any time climbing down out of that tree. As they were on the way to his house, some people in the crowd nearest them grumbled and complained. “He has gone to be the guest of man who is a sinner.” Luke 19:6-7
Zaccheus stopped in his tracks. Then he looked at the Lord Jesus and said, “Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I will give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will give back four times as much.”
Luke 19:8
Sacrifices for Godly reasons always benefits others. Many were going to benefit financially from Zaccheus’ selfLESSness.
How did Jesus react to such a statement?
NASB Luke 19:9-10 “… ‘Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham.
10 ‘For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.’”
Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem to die on a cross – for your sins and mine.
I am a beneficiary of Jesus’ selfLESS sacrifice on the cross. Are you?
~ Take it to heart ~
Where do you need to be sacrificially selfLESS today?
