Many who come to Jesus today are seeking healing, health, forgiveness, salvation, leading, counseling, hope, security. You may think of many more reasons to come to Jesus.
A rich young ruler asked Jesus what he needed to do in order to inherit eternal life. What did Jesus say? Sell all your possessions and “…come, follow Me.” What did that young man do? He went away, saddened… did his possessions possess him? Luke 18:18-23
Jesus’ disciples were astonished. What did Jesus say to a wealthy young man, who kept God’s laws? “How hard it is for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God. For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
Luke 18:24-25 NASB
The disciples of Jesus and others who heard Jesus talk with this wealthy young ruler asked, “Then who can be saved?” And what did Jesus answer? “The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.” Luke 18:26-27 NASB
What Jesus knew and those standing around Him did not know… how God would make it possible for anyone to inherit eternal life.
Jesus would be totally involved in God’s plan for anyone to inherit eternal life.
What was true then is true today.
Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ gives anyone the opportunity to inherit eternal life.
What is the condition? Faith in Jesus as your Savior. To follow Jesus is to know by faith that He is your Savior.
NASB Romans 10:9-10 “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;
10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
~ Take it to heart ~
“The things that are impossible with people are possible with God.”
